About the Event

On Monday, April 4th, Chelle is welcoming Katie Doble to take the stage to share her perspective on balance, and creating the life you love.

Katie Doble is a recruiter, writer, motivational speaker, patient advocate, Stage IV cancer survivor, and self-proclaimed friend hoarder. Through her grueling nine-year battle with cancer, Katie’s perspective on the balance of career and life shifted. After making changes to her own career, Katie has made it her mission to help others create the lives they want to live. Her insight will help you look inward and evaluate ways you can better your own life.

Here's a quote from a previous audience member: “Katie came to speak to us, and we were all simply floored. She’s magnetic, infectious, REAL and so inspirational. Her honesty, her story and her perspective helped each of us look inside ourselves in a way I don’t believe we otherwise would.”

~Paul Manutes Creative Director, UCHealth

Learn more about Katie Ortman Doble:

From a young age, Doble was a social butterfly, quick to make friends and good at keeping in touch. She translated that innate ability to connect and build strong relationships into a successful career as a headhunter.

In 2013, Doble was diagnosed with ocular melanoma, which left her blind in her left eye. The following year, doctors discovered it had spread to her liver and in 2018, her brain. She continues her passion of connecting people professionally, but faced with an incurable cancer, Doble found her priorities in life shifting.

Doble looks for the silver lining – or what she calls #CancerPerks – in everything cancer has thrown her way, which includes four clinical trials, two liver embolizations, one gamma knife procedure, and two liver resections. In September of 2021, after receiving a cutting-edge treatment and having half of her liver surgically removed, Doble learned she was NED (no evidence of disease). She has worked through all of her treatments and advocates for a better work / life balance for herself and others (one of her many #CancerPerks).

In 2017, Doble was given the Courage Award from the Melanoma Research Foundation. In 2018, a five-part series on living wills written by Doble was featured on the Denver Hospice blog and picked up by Denver’s local Fox affiliate. Doble was the recipient of First Descents’ Out Living It award in 2021.

Doble lives in Denver with her husband, Nick, whom she met after first connecting on LinkedIn, and their dog Alice. Doble and Alice have matching heterochromatic eyes. The Doble family loves to hike, bike, cook, read, travel, and spend time with family.
